The World Rankings are on the defensive

The representatives of the Official World Rankings have published a statement in which they outlined their position in response to the recent graceful move performed by LIV Golf. Recall that the new League announced the conclusion of a “strategic alliance” with the MENA Tour, as a result of which the players from the Saudi-league hoped to get points in the World Rankings already at the end of this week.

However, officials said that “such issues are not solved overnight,” and therefore they will need time to “consult with their comrades.” The appeal states that such a rapid change in one of the Tours requires detailed consideration (especially given the small number of players at the tournaments and the lack of kata). And that is why the stages of LIV Golf, which will take place this month, will not be taken into account in the system of the World Ranking.

Thus, the representatives of the Rating successfully continued to follow the previously chosen tactics of delaying the solution of the issue, decreasing the chances of the LIV Golf players for the objective display of their level of play in the main table of ranks with each passing week. And in vain, Phil Mickelson assured reporters that recognition of the new League would be “the perfect opportunity to prove the validity of the Rankings, as well as the absence of political motives in the decision-making process.”

Let’s hope that now the officials will not trump their integrity and “for the company” will not deprive participants of points and Hero World Challenge tournament, which will be held next month. Remember, at the Tiger Woods Tournament, two dozen players will perform without katas and (considering the strongest lineup) they are guaranteed to get as many points in the Rating, as not every winner of the European Tour stages gets.
